SmartSort AI has 22 sort orders. Pick one as the main Sort by and, optionally, another as the Then by tiebreaker. All of them are available on every plan.

Sales

These use the orders in your lookback period (1–365 days) and the order status you choose (all, paid or fulfilled). See Sorting rules.

Sort order How products are ranked
Number of sales – high to low Units sold in the lookback period, most first. The classic “best sellers first”.
Number of sales – low to high Units sold, fewest first. Useful to find slow movers.
Revenue – high to low Line item revenue after discounts, highest first. Favours expensive products that sell.
Revenue – low to high Revenue, lowest first.
Trending (sales velocity) Products selling faster in the last 7 days than their usual weekly pace over the lookback period. Brings up products that are taking off now.

Date

Sort order How products are ranked
Newest first (created) The date the product was created in Shopify, newest first.
Oldest first (created) Created date, oldest first.
Recently published first The date the product was published to your online store, newest first.

Price and profit

Sort order How products are ranked
Price – high to low The product’s lowest variant price, highest first.
Price – low to high Lowest variant price, cheapest first.
Biggest discount first The largest discount among the product’s variants, from compare-at price to price.
Margin % – high to low (price − cost) ÷ price, using the average variant price and “Cost per item”.
Profit per item – high to low Average variant price minus average cost per item.

Note: Margin and profit need Cost per item on the product’s variants in Shopify (Products → product → variant → Cost per item). Products without a cost are placed after the ones that have one.

With Ignore out-of-stock variants for price on, price sorts use the lowest price among in-stock variants.

Inventory

Sort order How products are ranked
Inventory – high to low Total inventory across variants and locations, most first. Useful to move overstock.
Inventory – low to high Total inventory, least first.

Engagement

These use anonymous storefront events from the SmartSort AI pixel, over the lookback period. See Analytics and the storefront pixel.

Sort order How products are ranked
Most viewed (storefront clicks) How often shoppers opened the product from a collection.
Best converting (add-to-cart rate) Add-to-carts divided by clicks from collections; products with more add-to-carts win ties.
