Plans and billing
SmartSort AI plans, prices and limits, the free plan and 7-day trial, monthly or annual billing through Shopify, and changing plans.
SmartSort AI has a free plan and paid plans for larger catalogs and more automation. Charges are billed through Shopify and appear on your Shopify invoice.

Paid plans start with a 7-day free trial. Annual billing saves 20%. Growth adds custom merchandising rules, analytics and smart tagging; Pro adds AI recommendations.
All plans include every sort order, out-of-stock handling, scheduled re-sorts, preview, undo and restore, the storefront pixel and the automatic merchandising checks. Prices are in US dollars.
The free plan
New stores start on the free plan automatically. It has no charge and no time limit — it’s a full version of SmartSort AI for smaller catalogs, with the limits shown above.
Free trials
Paid plans start with a free trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you aren’t charged. Each store gets one free trial: if you subscribe again later, billing starts right away.
Monthly or annual billing
When you choose a paid plan you can pay monthly or yearly. Annual billing costs less than twelve monthly payments, and Shopify charges the yearly amount up front.
Choose or change a plan
- Open Plans in SmartSort AI.
- Choose a plan and the billing period.
- Approve the charge on the Shopify page that opens. You return to SmartSort AI with the new plan active.
You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Shopify replaces your current subscription with the new one and adjusts your invoice. Choosing the free plan cancels your paid subscription.
Plan limits
- Products in your store — the total number of products in your Shopify store. If your catalog grows past your plan’s limit, automatic sorting pauses until you upgrade; your collections keep their current order in the meantime.
- Collections sorted — how many collections can be turned on at once. Other collections are left alone. To turn on another collection, turn one off or upgrade.
- Fastest automatic re-sort — how often collections can re-sort on a schedule. See Schedules and real-time sorting.
Features by plan
If you try to use a feature that isn’t in your plan — for example merchandising rules or smart tagging — SmartSort AI tells you which plan includes it.
If you downgrade, your settings are kept, but features outside the new plan stop being available: real-time re-sorting and smart tagging stop, and to save changes to your sorting rules you’ll need to remove settings the new plan doesn’t include.
One plan per store
Shopify bills apps per store, so each store installs SmartSort AI and chooses its own plan.
Cancel
Choose the free plan in Plans, or uninstall SmartSort AI from your Shopify admin. Uninstalling cancels any subscription automatically. Refunds follow Shopify’s billing rules.
