# Featured products

> Pin products to the top of a collection in the order you choose, with optional start and end dates, random rotation and a limit.

Featured products are pinned to the very top of a collection, ahead of new arrivals, tags, rules and your sort order. Use them for hero products, launches, campaigns and seasonal picks. Featured products are part of every plan.

## Add featured products

1. On the **Dashboard**, open the collection.
2. In **Featured products**, search for a product in the collection and add it.
3. Add more products and drag them into the order you want — the first one is shown first.
4. Save, then click **Re-sort** to apply the change straight away (otherwise it’s applied at the next sort, or within minutes with [real-time re-sorting](https://help.fleekapps.com/smartsort-ai/schedules-and-real-time/#real-time-re-sorting)).

Featured products are set per collection, so a product can be featured in “Summer” without being featured in “All products”.

> **Note:** A product only appears if it’s in the collection. If you remove it from the collection in Shopify, it isn’t shown there any more.

## Start and end dates

Give a featured product a **start date**, an **end date**, or both:

- Before the start date, the product is ranked like any other product.
- After the end date, it’s removed from the featured list and the collection is re-sorted at its next sort (within minutes with real-time re-sorting).

Dates and times use your store’s time zone. This is ideal for launches (“feature from Friday 9 AM”) and promotions that should end on time.

## Order of featured products

Choose how the featured products are ordered among themselves:

- **Manual** — the order you dragged them into (the default).
- **Random** — shuffled. Scheduled sorts reshuffle once a day; a manual re-sort reshuffles every time.
- **By a sort order** — for example *Number of sales – high to low*, so the best-selling featured product leads.

## Show only some of them

Set a **limit** to show only that many featured products at a time. Combined with **Random**, the top spots rotate between all your featured products — a simple way to give several hero products a turn. Featured products that aren’t shown are ranked like any other product.

## Sold-out featured products

Featured products stay on top even when they sell out, because you chose them. The [recommendations](https://help.fleekapps.com/smartsort-ai/recommendations-and-ai/) list warns you when a featured product is sold out, so you can restock it or remove it.
