# Plans, free trial and billing

> Compare ShipRule’s Basic, Growth and Pro plans, start a 7-day free trial, change or cancel on Shopify’s plan page, and see what happens on a downgrade.

ShipRule is billed through Shopify. You choose, change and cancel your plan on Shopify’s own plan page, and charges appear on your Shopify invoice in US dollars. Open **Plans** in the app menu to compare plans and see your current one.

## Plans

Every plan includes **unlimited rules**, with no usage limits. The only ceiling is Shopify’s limit on how much rule data reaches checkout, shown as **Checkout capacity**. ShipRule works on every Shopify plan.

## Choose a plan

1. Open **Plans** and click **Choose …** on a plan. Shopify’s plan page opens.
2. Choose the plan and approve it in Shopify.
3. You’re taken back to ShipRule, which reads your new plan from Shopify.

While you’re on the trial, **Plans** and the **Dashboard** show when it ends. After that, Shopify bills your plan on your regular invoice.

Until you choose a plan, ShipRule doesn’t change your checkout.

> **Tip:** If your new plan doesn’t show yet, click **Refresh plan** on **Plans**. ShipRule also checks with Shopify regularly, and the page shows when it last did.

## Upgrade or downgrade

Click **Switch to …** on another plan, or **Manage plan in Shopify**, and make the change on Shopify’s plan page.

- **Upgrades** unlock features right away. Rules that were paused by your plan resume automatically.
- **Downgrades** pause the rules that use features of a higher plan. They’re kept, not deleted, and show a reason such as *Needs the Growth plan*. Paused rules don’t run at checkout. Edit them to remove those features, or upgrade again. See [Manage rules](https://help.fleekapps.com/shiprule/manage-rules/#rules-paused-by-your-plan).

If Shopify schedules a change for the start of your next billing cycle, **Plans** shows *Plan change scheduled* with the date.

## Cancel

Choose **Cancel plan** on Shopify’s plan page, or uninstall ShipRule. If your subscription runs until the end of the billing period, **Plans** shows *Your subscription is ending* with the date. After that, ShipRule stops changing your checkout and buyers see your normal shipping options.

If you cancel the plan but keep the app, your rules stay in ShipRule, so you can choose a plan again later. If you uninstall, your data is deleted about 48 hours later; see [Privacy and data](https://help.fleekapps.com/shiprule/privacy-and-data/).

To stop ShipRule changing checkout without canceling, use **Settings → Pause ShipRule** instead.

## Complimentary plans

If the ShipRule team has given your store a plan, **Plans** shows *You have a complimentary … plan*. You aren’t charged for it.
