# Packing slips and order barcodes

> Print packing slips from the phone, choose what they show, and scan an order barcode or type an order number to jump straight to that order.

Packing slips print straight from the phone, so there’s no need to go back to a computer between orders. Every slip carries a barcode of the order number.

## Print a packing slip

You can print a slip for any packed order:

- Right after packing: tap **Print packing slip** on the *… packed* screen.
- Later: open the pick list in **Orders → Pick lists** and tap the printer icon (**Print packing slip**) next to a packed order.

The phone opens its system print dialog — AirPrint on iPhone and iPad, Android’s print services on Android. From there you can print, save as a PDF or share the file. Slips are laid out on A4 pages.

## What’s on the slip

- **From:** your store’s name, address and email.
- **Packing slip** heading with the order number, order date and an order barcode.
- **Ship to:** the customer’s name, company, address and phone, and the **Shipping method**.
- An item table with each product and variant, its **Qty** and, if turned on, its **SKU / Barcode**.
- The number of items and, if turned on, the order total.
- The **Order note**, if the order has one.
- Your footer message.

The ship-to details are read from Shopify when you print and aren’t stored by Rack Scanner. If Shopify doesn’t provide them, the slip says *See shipping label* instead.

## Choose what slips show

In the Shopify app, open **Settings** and find **Packing slip**:

| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| **Show prices and order total** | Off — leave it off for gift orders, or when prices shouldn’t travel with the parcel |
| **Show SKU and barcode for each item** | On |
| **Footer message** | *Thank you for your order!* (up to 300 characters) |

Click **Save changes**. The next slip printed from any phone uses the new settings.

## Scan an order barcode

The barcode on a Rack Scanner packing slip encodes the order number. To jump to an order:

1. In the mobile app, open **Orders** and tap the scan icon (**Scan order barcode**).
2. Scan the barcode, or tap **Type order number** and enter it.

What happens next depends on the order:

| The order is… | Rack Scanner… |
|---|---|
| On a pick list that’s in progress | Opens that pick list |
| Paid and waiting to ship | Starts packing it right away |
| Already packed | Shows *Order … is already packed* |
| Not found among paid orders waiting to ship | Shows *No paid order waiting to ship matches …* |

You can type the order number with or without the **#**.

## Print a pick list

Packing slips are per order. For a list of everything to collect in a batch, print the pick list from the Shopify app: open **Orders**, click the batch and click **Print pick list**. See [Batch picking](https://help.fleekapps.com/rack-scanner/batch-picking/).
