# Shipping rules

> Hide, rename or reorder delivery options at checkout, or make shipping free or discounted — by cart, customer, product or address.

Shipping functions change the delivery options customers see at checkout. They can do two different things, and each needs its own function:

- **Hide, rename or reorder** shipping methods — a *delivery customization* in Shopify, listed under **Settings → Shipping and delivery**.
- **Make shipping free or discounted** — a shipping *discount*, listed under **Discounts**. It counts toward Shopify’s limit of 25 app discounts.

## Choose which shipping methods

Hide, rename and reorder actions pick shipping methods **by the name shown at checkout**:

- **Name contains** — e.g. *express* matches *Express (1–2 days)* and *UPS Express*.
- **Name is exactly** — the whole name.
- **All except names containing** — every method except those.
- **All shipping methods**.

Upper and lower case don’t matter, and you can enter several names — any of them matches.

> **Tip:** Copy names from your real checkout. A rate called *Standard Shipping* isn’t matched by *standard delivery*.

## Actions

- **Hide shipping method** — removes the matching rates.
- **Rename shipping method** — **New name** (up to 100 characters) is what customers see.
- **Reorder shipping method** — **Move to position**: 1 is the top of the list.
- **Free / discounted shipping** — **Free shipping**, **Percentage off shipping** or **Fixed amount off shipping**. Tick **Only for specific shipping methods** to discount only some rates. Like any discount, it shows the function’s title at checkout and has [discount settings](https://help.fleekapps.com/functionflow-ai/discounts/#discount-settings).

## Examples

## Things to know

- Be careful not to hide every option: if a rule hides all rates for an address, those customers can’t complete checkout. Test your rule with a few addresses.
- Shipping rules see the address once the customer has entered it. Before that, address conditions don’t match (negative ones like *is none of* do).
- **Shopify Market** isn’t available for hide, rename and reorder. Use **Country** instead.
- Amounts in hide, rename and reorder rules are compared with the cart in the customer’s checkout currency. If you sell in several currencies, add a **Currency** condition or set thresholds per country.
- Shopify allows up to **25 delivery customizations** per store.
