FunctionFlow AI · Troubleshooting & FAQ · Updated October 3, 2026

> Quick answers about Shopify Functions, plans, testing, limits, AI and your data.

### Do I need to know how to code?

No. You pick conditions and actions from menus, start from a template, or describe the rule in plain English and let the AI generator draft it. FunctionFlow compiles everything into a native Shopify Function. If you do like code, the Enterprise plan includes a JavaScript code editor.

### What are Shopify Functions?

Shopify’s official way to customize checkout: discounts, shipping options, payment methods and checkout validation. They run inside Shopify’s own checkout — no theme edits and no scripts on your storefront — and they replace Shopify Scripts.

### Do I need Shopify Plus?

No. FunctionFlow AI is a public app, so its functions work on every Shopify plan, from Basic to Plus.

### Will functions slow down my store?

No. Functions run inside Shopify’s checkout infrastructure, not in your theme, and Shopify limits them to run in a few milliseconds.

### Can I test a rule before customers see it?

Yes, two ways. The [tester](https://help.fleekapps.com/functionflow-ai/test-a-function/) runs the real compiled function against a sample cart and explains the result condition by condition. Then [test mode](https://help.fleekapps.com/functionflow-ai/test-mode/) publishes it only for customers tagged `ff-test`, so you can check your real checkout first.

### Can a rule run only at certain times?

Yes. Add **Time of day** or **Day of the week** conditions for happy hours, weekend offers or delivery cutoffs, in your store’s time zone. To start or end a whole function on set dates, use **Active dates**. See [Happy hours and time-based rules](https://help.fleekapps.com/functionflow-ai/happy-hours-and-time-rules/).

### Can discounts skip items that are already on sale?

Yes. Tick **Exclude items already on sale** on a product discount, or use the **Product is on sale** condition. An item is on sale when its compare-at price is higher than its price.

### What if I make a mistake?

Every change to a rule is saved as a version. [Compare versions](https://help.fleekapps.com/functionflow-ai/version-history/) and restore an older one in one click, or unpublish a function instantly.

### How many functions can I have?

Your plan sets how many functions you can keep (archived ones don’t count). Separately, Shopify allows up to 25 active functions of each kind per store: app discounts, delivery customizations, payment customizations and checkout validations.

### How does the AI generator work?

Describe the rule — *“Hide Cash on Delivery for orders above $200”*. The AI chooses the kind of function and drafts conditions and actions; FunctionFlow checks the draft against Shopify’s limits; you review and edit it in the builder before anything is published. See [AI generator](https://help.fleekapps.com/functionflow-ai/ai-generator/).

### Is my customers’ data safe?

FunctionFlow doesn’t store your customers’ personal details. Checkout data stays inside Shopify, and analytics keep only totals. See [Your data and privacy](https://help.fleekapps.com/functionflow-ai/privacy-and-data/).

### How am I billed?

Through your Shopify invoice, every 30 days, after a free trial. Change or cancel your plan anytime on the **Plans** page. See [Plans and billing](https://help.fleekapps.com/functionflow-ai/plans-and-billing/).

### What happens if I uninstall?

Shopify removes the app’s discounts and customizations from your checkout, so your functions stop running. Your data is deleted when Shopify sends its data-removal request, typically about 48 hours later.

### How do I contact support?

Email us with your store’s .myshopify.com address and a short description of the problem. See [Support](https://fleekapps.com/help-center/).
